After classical piano studies, S.Lovato perfected his knowledge of jazz and improvised music at the CIM with musicians such as Andy Emler, Georges Arvanitas, Michel Grailler. He quickly began to play in Parisian clubs and his musical eclecticism led him to discover the world of the Beninese singer Angélique Kidjo, whose pianist/keyboardist he was for two years. He is also part of the acid-jazz group “Dis bonjour à la dame”, with whom he will perform in many festivals (Montreux, Hamburg, Nice…), TV/Radio shows (“Nulle part ailleurs” Canal +, Radio France…), concerts with Archie Shepp at the “Hot Brass” (Paris). Spotted by the saxophonist Yochko Seffer, he is part of his band: concerts at the New Morning with Didier Malherbe, Didier Lockwood, recording 3 CDs, appearances on Arte/Mezzo, …. At the same time he devotes himself to his jazz project : Music Boox, which is available in trio, quartet or quintet. These are original compositions whose inspiration is rooted in literary works. A first album was released in 2010 by ACEL/UVM, with Marc Buronfosse (bass), Alexandra Grima (ts)l and Karl Jannuska (drums). A second album was released in 2015 with Sébastien Texier (as,clar). The third album Music Boox, “for Virginia” was released in 2020, on the ACEL/Quart de Lune label, with Antoine Berjeaut (tp), Yves Torchinsky (bass), Luc Isenmann (drums), Manu Codjia (g) and Brunehilde Yvrande (vocals).
